how do i recover the seat on my yamaha SR125 motorbike?
i am restoring a 1985 yamaha SR125 and i am now up to the seat and would like to know how to do it as i have never done that side of things like what foam to i use for the filling i have a cover but how do i fit it to the plastic base as it looks like its held in place with staples
The base is a plastic ABS body.You need to match it to the motorcycle frame.
The foam is poly urethane and any thing that looks closest to the original can be power sawed and normal hand held grinder to the original shape.The PU foam is stuck to the base by Rubber based adhesives.
the seat cover is cloth backed poly vinyl chloride and stitched to shape and stapled to the rest.
You may need a steam tube to flex the PVC cloth to the geometry of the seat assembly formed.
It is not a high tech job and one can do it in garage.
